FORT GREENE PARK
LOCATION:  New York
Client: NYC Parks

Among the oldest parks in Brooklyn, Fort Greene Park is a site of remarkable historical and recreational significance for the neighborhood, the borough of Brooklyn and the nation. Nancy Owens Studio redesigned a heavily-used park entrance at Willoughby Avenue and Washington Park. New pathways, drainage structures, plantings and an accessible ramp are integrated with the historic Olmsted and Vaux-designed perimeter walls. There were important preservation goals for the historic walls and paving, but the most significant improvements are the not immediately visible stormwater management strategies. Nancy Owens Studio was also commissioned by NYC Parks to develop the Historic Resource and Management And Operations Study for the 30-acre historic park.
