NEWPORT PLAYGROUND

Newport Playground is a 0.92 acre Jointly Operated Playground located in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Nancy Owens Studio was asked to increase and upgrade the active play experience and to create a more inviting interface with the surrounding community. The softened design features a flexible, open space for use by the adjacent school with additional seating areas and game tables for seniors and other members of the community. It incorporates reduced sight-lines, additional green edges, and lush plantings throughout to bring greenery to the park and the neighborhood.
