Fort Totten North Park is a distinct landscape with its own vocabulary derived from the historical layers and natural features of Fort Totten. The landmark district is located on a 149-acre peninsula on the Long Island Sound with a long and layered military history. Nancy Owens Studio employed several large-scale landscape design gestures using native vegetation and manipulation of terrain to organize and frame the site. Design priorities included native habitat restoration, storm water retention and enhanced opportunities for cultural and ecological education.
